You have the power to build an equitable, regenerative, and resilient local food system—one that protects the people who feed us, and ensures everyone has access to fresh, local food.
Help small family farms and food entrepreneurs succeed, Bay Area families put fresh food on the table, and young people grow up with the skills they need to thrive. Your tax-deductible donation helps:
- Support California farmers for a climate-resilient future. Our farmers markets provide vital income for 130+ small sustainable farms and food businesses throughout economic uncertainty. The farms we work with are on the cutting edge of regenerative practices, and they need support to stay viable in this challenging livelihood.
- Advance equity for BIPOC, immigrant, and limited-resource food entrepreneurs. Establishing a thriving food business is hard, made even more so by barriers due to structural racism. We assist early-stage BIPOC entrepreneurs in our market by underwriting permit costs, waiving our stall fees, and offering technical and marketing support as they build their businesses.
- Keep fresh, healthy food affordable for Bay Area families. As costs of living in the Bay Area rise, our Market Match program remains vital for low-income families. Shoppers who use CalFresh EBT (food stamps) can double their spending power at the farmers market, while putting dollars directly in the pockets of local farmers.
- Provide critical and free food education for kids. Through farmers market field trips, cooking classes, school gardens, and job training, we increase young people's desire to eat fresh fruits and vegetables, participate in their food system, and be empowered as future food leaders.
